Connect Story

Oleg Tatarintcev

Project Manager in Civil Engineering at Start LLC (Samara branch office)
(Full-time, Class of 2013)

I worked in civil engineering in Samara, Russia, for more than 10 years as a cost engineer and project manager. Although my managers supported me, Samara was a provincial city that had some limitations and that is why I decided to leave.

The influence of East Asia, and China in particular, keeps steadily growing. Therefore I thought China was the best next step for me and decided to do my MBA in East Asia.

I chose Hong Kong, because English is widely used. The CUHK MBA has a good reputation and it offers exposure to the business culture of both East and West, including China. The large number of its alumni was also an attraction.

Leveraging LinkedIn to Power Up Your Profile and Brand

A top guru in personal branding on Linkedin was onboard to share his professional insights and advice to MBA students. From an everyday engineer to MBAs to world leaders, it is no longer an option to be neither seen nor heard in the digital realm. Our facilitator elaborated that your online presence and footprints represent you and hence, it can only be beneficial to wisely leverage Linkedin online platform. Linkedin is much more than copy-and-paste of one’s resume. These days it resonates as a tactical platform and requires time and effort to utilize its massive network and branding power. In this workshop our MBAs learned how to put forward their best “virtual-self” online as professionals whether they are seeking career opportunities, conducting business development or building a personal brand.
