Michelle: Before starting a new business, it is most critical to assess whether you can find the right people to form a team. Then see if there is sufficient capital or whether you have the ability to raise capital. Do not start a business for the sake of starting it. The only way to make it work is to choose something you are passionate about, and find people with similar ambitions to help you succeed.

Tiffany: You should share the idea with your family and gain their understanding and support. You will appreciate the positive energy they can give you, because you will encounter numerous obstacles along the way.

The Pre-term activities for the new batch
Firm visit to Fenix Group Holdings Ltd.
Firm visit to ZTE Corporation in Shenzhen
In August and September, we welcome the new batch of FT and PT students with a series of orientation events. These included the networking events, experiential learning workshops and speaker series to kick off their MBA life. These offered a valuable opportunity for students to get acquainted before the official start of the new academic year.
One of the highlights was the Shenzhen firm visit. We visited the ZTE, one of the largest telecommunication firm in China and Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT), one of the largest and most advanced container terminals in the world. This trip can foster their general knowledge of the business in China. Besides, it is our pleasure to have the firm visit in City’Super store followed by the insightful sharing by the founder and chairman of Fenix Group Holdings Ltd., Mr. Massaki Ogino. He shared his life wisdoms to the students and all of us enjoyed tremendously this opportunity to engage with him.
The CMC activities

The full-time Class of 2017 begun their journey in August. One of the signature activities was the O.M.G (Opportunity. Matching. Getting Prepared) 3-day career development boot camp. This year the workshops covered topics in leadership, storytelling, innovation as well as the core skills learning in case interview and networking. Two types of assessments were also conducted to help students understand more about their unique traits and roles. These workshops were very engaging, and they were customized and designed to cater the different needs of different MBA students. Besides the intensive workshops, it was such an encouragement to have our 2nd year students and recent alumni to join us and share their experience and advice with the new class. To wrap up, together they had a relaxing networking drinks on the last day of the boot camp, once again we must thank them sincerely for their continuous support. The 3-day experience was just a beginning to gear up the new students and CMC will continue to provide opportunities and guidance to these high-caliber CUHK MBA talents. With such a diverse group of unique individuals coming from 14 locations and across industries, there is no one-size-fit-all program suitable for this class .
Our 1-to-1 consulting session has begun and our career advisors at CMC are meeting up with each student throughout September to first understand their unique professional background and work experience in order to facilitate tailored trainings and workshops in the coming months. It is definitely vital for CMC to know each student’s career history and their desired path so that appropriate advice and guidance can be offered on both group and individual level. A round of applause should be given to this new class of rising stars for their enthusiasm, time and effort. CMC will strive to be their partner on this journey.
