The Chinese University of Hong Kong’s MBA Students Excel in Organizing 11th CSR Conference - 1

The CUHK MBA CSR Conference held on May 8, 2018 concluded with great success. The annual event, which was launched in 2007 and is now in its 11th year, was organized by the  MBA students of the University’s Business School and drew over a hundred participants, including business professionals, industry experts, academics and students from the region.

The conference provided a platform for 17 expert professionals from academia, corporations and non-governmental organizations to share their own valuable experiences and perspectives under the theme of “CSR∞: Sustaining CSR Indefinitely” and examine how corporate social responsibility programs can leave a long-term positive impact well into the future and benefit future generations.

“In the past 10 years, we have been talking about CSR as a corporate strategy in areas such as risk management, brand communication and so on, but what about the core of CSR – sustainability? That’s how we came about our theme this year – sustaining CSR indefinitely,” said Mr. Keith Chua, Year 1 full-time MBA student and President of the Conference Committee.

The CUHK MBA program’s clear vision of social responsibility being an integral part of sustainable business development was reflected in the keynote speeches and panel discussions, such as embedding the Sustainable Development Goals into business, fulfilling social missions with cross-boundaries collaboration, building resilient global supply chain with sustainability and other topics.

“Organizing this conference has been a roller-coaster experience filled with thrill. It was also one of the most fulfilling experiences. I am glad that, with the support from various parties including my committee members and the MBA office, it was a huge success,” Mr. Chua said.

Looking forward to the 12th conference next year, the Business School is grateful to all CSR Conference committee members, conference speakers and sponsor companies, including Diamond Sponsor health and beauty product retailer A.S. Watson Group, and Platinum Sponsors, document services and communications expert, Fuji Xerox and innovative and reliable motion systems provider, Johnson Electric.
