      We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the CUMBA Alumni Association (GBA Chapter) for organizing the highly successful MBA Alumni Gathering. The event brought together a fantastic group of alumni, creating a memorable and enriching experience for all participants.

      One of the highlights of the gathering was the opportunity for participants to visit two prominent companies in Shenzhen. What made these visits truly special was the fact that both companies were founded by our CUHK Business School entrepreneur alumni. It was inspiring to witness the tremendous growth and success achieved by our alumni, and we are immensely proud of their accomplishments. The visits provided a unique chance for attendees to gain firsthand insights into the entrepreneurial journey, witnessing the innovative strategies and business models implemented by our alumni. It was a testament to the quality of education and the entrepreneurial spirit fostered within our community.

It was an honor to have such an esteemed guest and mentor share his insights with our community. The event brought together a diverse audience comprising both current students and recent graduates, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of learning and growth. Dr Paul Sin’s expertise and experience provided invaluable guidance to all attendees. Here are some key takeaways from Dr Sin:

As the founder of Memorigin, Hong Kong’s first tourbillon watch brand, William is an accomplished entrepreneur and watchmaker. With a background in investment banking and a master’s degree from Cornell University, William embarked on a mission to create timepieces that beautifully blend Eastern and Western cultures while showcasing exquisite craftsmanship for future generations to cherish.

William emphasized the importance of building strong networks and implementing effective marketing strategies to expand and establish a successful local brand.             The event kicked off with insightful speeches by Hon Mahen Kumar Seeruttun, Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance of the Republic of Mauritius, and Mr Vinay Guddye, Director of Financial Services at the Economic Development Board of Mauritius. The panel discussion that follows was hosted by Professor Anthony Yang, Associate Professor of Practice in Finance at the Department of Finance, CUHK Business School. Joining him were esteemed panelists Mr Raphaël BEAUDREY, Director of Rosemont Management (Mauritius) Ltd, Mr Vinay Guddye, and Mr Raymond Lo, Board Adviser of CUHK MBA Programmes. Their collective expertise in finance explored the exciting possibilities of Hong Kong-Mauritius collaboration in a business setting. The panel shed light on the advantages that Mauritius offers, including no foreign exchange controls, a competitive fiscal regime, and free repatriation of profits, dividends, and capital. Mauritius is eager to strengthen its fintech journey with Hong Kong, especially after the recent launch of its Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).

Eating glass symbolizes the need to tackle the difficult and often unglamorous problems that a company faces, instead of solely focusing on the areas that personally interest us. During our intensive two-day Pre-Term, our MBA students embraced both the pain and the rewards of pitching and developing new ventures, demonstrating their resilience and determination in the face of entrepreneurial challenges.

                                    Our LinkedIn Workshop was a remarkable success, offering participants updates on the latest employment market trends in Hong Kong, specifically focusing on finance, innovation and entrepreneurship, and cultural and technology sectors. Attendees gained valuable tips on creating an employer-friendly LinkedIn profile that maximizes networking opportunities.
