Q1. Could you briefly describe your current job scope?
Working for the Make in India programme at the Government of India in its several forms, I am responsible for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the semiconductor and electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM) sectors, strengthening connections with the higher education and academic fields, as well as fostering positive international relations for the country and community development for Indians living abroad.
Q2. How would you describe Hyderabad?
Highly aspirational, welcoming and tech-oriented.
Hyderabad is one of the fastest-growing cities in Asia. Many overseas technology companies were attracted by its friendly business environment and chose to set up their base here after relocating to India. As a result, it has a highly diversified tech business landscape, with players from the semiconductor, fintech and education sectors as well as other global giants.
Q3. Which industry do you see strong business potential in India and why?
I see strong potential in quite a number of industries. The technology industry is obviously coming strong, with ample room of growth especially with electronics and semiconductors. Taking advantage from China’s Plus One strategy, the manufacturing sector in India is also expected to welcome an influx of new opportunities and capital. Last but not least, India runs the world’s third-largest higher education system with a growing number of world class universities. I can see that the country will continue strengthening its role as an international education hub.
Q4. What did you enjoy the most during your study in CUHK Business School?
Studying in the beautiful campus of CUHK has been a true pleasure. I also enjoyed interacting with Business School professors as they are extremely inspirational and knowledgeable. I am proud of my association with CUHK Business School.
