CUHK MBA Seoul Field Trip 2016 - 1

The field trip to Seoul, South Korea, for MBA students was organized from Oct 26 to Oct 29, 2016. 34 MBA students participated in this trip gained fruitful experience as well as business knowledge on one of the fastest growing countries in Asia! This non-credit bearing tour aims to explore the Korean business environment and culture first hand, our students enjoyed greatly in the company visits to AmorePacific, Hyundai Steel, KOTRA, and Samsung.

The trip was kicked off by the alumni dinner on the first night with great Korean food and beer.

“Familiar with Korean culture and language, I think I was the most excited one about the Seoul trip. Starting from the Hotel Shilla Stay Yeoksam in Gangnam-gu to the trip ending visit of N-Seoul Tower, the trip was a pleasant experience. The company visit to KOTRA, a state-funded organisation to help Korean business especially in their overseas expansion, showed why the Korean companies have been able to expand their operation and business overseas.”

“When visiting Hyundai, we observed parts of the steel manufacturing process at Hyundai Steel as well as the auto performance and crash testing facilities at Hyundai Motors. We also learned about the history of Amore Pacific and Samsung at their respective storytelling and museum facilities. Last but not least, the class visited the MBC world theme park to learn about the history of broadcasting and music production in South Korea.”

“Our Seoul trip was truly an unforgettable one. We had a good experience to meet with the representative from KOTRA who gave us an overview of the trading environment in Korea. Besides, we had the chance to visit several Korean conglomerates including AmorePacific, Hyundai Steel and Samsung to gain insights on their operations. Our visit to the MBC World Theme Park was also very special where some of us were able to experience what it was like to be in the recording studio during news broadcasting. Not only did we experience a lot during these four days in Korea but more importantly we also had the opportunity to know more about our friends including our classmates from different study modes……”
