The Relaunch of the MBA Mentorship Program Kicks Off

The MBA Mentorship Program kick-off dinner took place at the W Hotel on 12 October and was a great success. The event was organised by the MBA Career Management Center.

After a thorough review of the mentorship program, it has been revamped with the goal of benefitting part-time MBA students in their second year, as well as full-time MBA students, who were previously the only group allowed to participate. During the night of the dinner, a special session was conducted by Prof. Tom Bain to develop and strengthen mentors’ coaching, mentoring and leadership skills.

“A larger and more diverse pool of mentors means our students have more expertise to draw upon. Many of our mentors are notable business leaders from top homegrown and multinational companies, as well as founders of successful start-ups,” said Business School Dean Prof. Kalok Chan. “I am particularly touched to see our alumni are willing to add this responsibility to their already packed schedules. Because of their dedication, the Business School has been able to build an impressive regional and international community.”

Next, Ms. Stephanie Villemagne, Associate Dean (Graduate Programs) and Director of MBA Programs, offered her thanks. “The MBA Mentorship Program debuted in 2003 and is incredibly valuable, as it gives our students the opportunity to benefit from the real-life experience of graduates. I am thrilled to see we have greatly increased the number of mentors and mentees since last year, and I hope everyone involved has enjoyed their experience.” The kick-off dinner connected 60 mentors and 90 mentees, who met each other for the first time in a friendly setting.

The MBA Mentorship Program endeavours to match full-time and part-time MBA students with MBA alumni for a minimum of nine months. It is designed to benefit mentors and mentees alike through the creation of a supportive network.
