Japanese MBA Student Ambassador – Takumi Saito
“I would have never imagined finding my perfect mentor – a senior Japanese executive working in Thailand. He is really supportive, he shared his experience building a career and network in the region and also connected me with his personal friends and business partners in Japan, Hong Kong and Thailand. This allowed me more advice on career opportunities in the region.”
Determined to explore further career opportunities in Asia outside Japan, Takumi Saito (MBA Full-time 2020 intake) decided to pursue MBA in Hong Kong, with its proximity to Mainland China and different parts of Asia. As a Credit Analyst for Kanematsu Corporation, a conglomerate listed in Tokyo Stock Exchange, Takumi carefully evaluated different MBA options and finally landed in the CUHK MBA programme, after concluding that the curriculum is interactive and practical.
To get the most out of his MBA journey and take himself out of the comfort zone, Takumi immersed himself into the Programme by actively participating in different student activities. He is the Treasurer of Japanese Club, Treasurer of Student Association and he even volunteered himself to be the emcee for the Class of 2020 graduation ceremony.
What impressed him the most in his first quarter however was the Elite Mentorship Programme. “I had not expected I would get a Japanese mentor currently working in Thailand – which is a perfect match for me as I exactly want to explore for my career in emerging Asian countries such as Thailand after my MBA”.
