Ms Susanna Wong’s CV Workshop

“A good CV helps you secure your first interview, no one looks at it again in the later stage unless they shortlist you, but you have to make your first move right.”

Earlier we had the privilege of hearing the wise words from Ms Susanna Wong, an esteemed alumna (BBA 1992) and Director of Acetron Limited, shares her invaluable insights at our recent CV Workshop. With her extensive experience at McKinsey and a remarkable career journey, Susanna provided our CUMBA community with the ultimate guide to crafting a compelling personal profile.

Here are two top tips she revealed to help you ace your first interviews and stand out from the crowd –

1️⃣ TIP #1: Personalize Your Bio ✍️

Susanna emphasized the importance of avoiding generic profiles that fail to capture HR professionals’ attention. Instead, she encouraged us to create a precise and unique selling point that highlights our positive sides. Remember, everyone includes a short bio, but it’s the ones that are personalized and tailored to the recruiting manager that truly make an impact.

2️⃣ TIP #2: Nail Your CV Format

First impressions matter, and your CV format plays a crucial role in showcasing your attention to detail. Susanna stressed the significance of uniform indentation to establish a professional and organized appearance. After all, if you can’t present your qualifications effectively on paper, it becomes challenging for employers to trust your ability to excel in the job. Pay close attention to formatting and make a lasting impression from the start!
