Corporate Visit and Industry Talk Series: Memorigin

Our MBA industry master, Mr William Shum, recently shared two key lessons with our MBAers during our exciting company visit to Memorigin. As the founder of Memorigin, Hong Kong’s first tourbillon watch brand, William is an accomplished entrepreneur and watchmaker. With a background in investment banking and a master’s degree from Cornell University, William embarked on a mission to create timepieces that beautifully blend Eastern and Western cultures while showcasing exquisite craftsmanship for future generations to cherish.

1️⃣ “Over 90% of startups fail”: It takes a great deal of networks and strategies to develop a local brand. William emphasized the importance of building strong networks and implementing effective marketing strategies to expand and establish a successful local brand. His journey with Memorigin exemplifies the dedication and perseverance required to overcome challenges and achieve business success.
2️⃣ “Do good deeds to the community, and good will come back to your business”: William’s commitment to social services and community support has been instrumental in shaping Memorigin’s reputation. By actively engaging in social responsibility initiatives, he has not only made a positive impact on the community but also witnessed the power of goodwill spreading through word of mouth. This integration of social responsibility has proven to be a driving force behind Memorigin’s success.

We are truly inspired by William’s entrepreneurial journey and his dedication to excellence in both business and social responsibility. His visionary leadership has propelled Memorigin to international recognition, expanding its presence to over 20 countries.
