Director’s Table with Dr Tang Xinmin from SenseTime
Few may realise that SenseTime 商汤科技, Hong Kong’s pioneering AI unicorn, has its roots firmly planted in Hong Kong Science Park and CUHK. Recently, our MBAers and alumni had the unique opportunity to visit SenseTime and witness firsthand its impressive advancements across multiple domains, including large-scale AI models, autonomous driving, fintech, and smart city technology. During an exhibition tour, participants observed how SenseTime’s AI solutions are transforming urban management by analysing real-time traffic data to optimise vehicle flow and dynamically adjust traffic lights in high-congestion areas.
In addition to smart city applications, SenseTime showcased its integration of AI in autonomous driving, where its technology assesses vehicle and pedestrian movement while monitoring driver status to improve safety. Following the tour, a Director’s Table was also hosted, featuring Dr Tang Xinmin, Vice President of the Digital World Business Unit at SenseTime. Dr Tang shared insights into SenseTime’s commitment to innovation and product iteration, contributing significantly to global advancements in AI technology.
As a CUHK alumnus, Dr Tang also shared his personal journey, encouraging students and alumni to continually push cognitive limits and grow through lifelong learning. His experiences resonated with attendees, emphasising the value of resilience and adaptability in an ever-evolving industry. The event also welcomed Vincent Cheng, an MBA Industry Master, who invited CUHK EMBA participants. Their varied expertise enriched discussions, creating a dynamic and inspiring experience for all involved.
