MBA Blog: Gaining Practical Experience through Organizing Annual CSR Conference

In another blog contributed to Financial Times, current CUHK MBA student Monica Dee shares her experience of organizing the 9th Annual CUHK MBA Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Conference this year.

The theme of this year’s CUHK MBA CSR Conference was “CSR Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.” The conference’s main goal was to provide a platform for professionals to analyze and evaluate current best practices and trends that will shape the future development of CSR in Asia. The CUHK MBA CSR Conference has been one of the largest student-led CSR initiatives in Asia since 2007 and is the pride of CUHK MBA. The Conference ranked fifth in the Financial Times Global MBA Ranking 2012 for CSR and came first in Asia.

Being a member of the organizing committee of the conference, Dee wrote that the CSR Conference was almost a year-long project and had provided her with valuable practical experience in how to organize a large-scale event, including dealing and collaborating with various parties and stakeholders and maintaining harmonious working relationships within a structured team. She feels that the efforts made have helped her build competencies that are applicable in the corporate world…
