MBA Charity Challenge: Operation Santa Claus 2013
Six current students from CUHK MBA program joined the Operation Santa Claus 2013, ranked 2nd in the Inter-school MBA Charity Challenge.
Christmas is a time of joy and happiness. When most of us are meeting family and friends during this festive season, six CUHK MBA students chose to participate the charity fund raising campaign. They not only helped to raise funds and increase general awareness of the people in needed, our students also had the opportunities to apply their ingenuity, invention and marketing know-how to selling campaign-related merchandise.
Operation Santa Claus is the South China Morning Post and RTHK’s annual Christmas fundraiser, and has brought joy, goodwill and HK$188 million assistance to 176 charities since 1988.
Hear what team member say…
A CUHK MBA team for MBA Challenge of Operation Santa Claus was formed in just a few of conversations in a chat group. Nonetheless, each of teammates in the team made a consensus of “Charity comes first”. The team raised fund through corporate donation, seminars and merchandise sale.
For corporate donation, the team promoted to corporate donors and offered free-seminars, with CUHK professors and doctors as volunteers, to them as a recognition. On the other hand, the team organized seminars, with voluntary speakers found, to MBA/EMBA alumni and their friends in order to raise fund from them. The team also held merchandise sale with booths at the Swire Party and CUHK Alumni Homecoming event.
Overcoming sorts of challenges, the team has raised $48,000 for Operation Santa Claus. The team is proud of it not because of the raised amount, but because of a fact that every dollar will benefit those people in need and the business knowledge learnt from CUHK MBA can be applied for betterment of the Community.
