A team of five CUHK MBA students participated in the Wharton MBA Buyout Case Competition in New York City in March. The competition brought together an impressive pool of leading MBA students across the globe to compete against one another in a leveraged buyout case. Teams were exposed to real world practices while being judged by industry professionals.
The competition provides teams with the opportunity to simulate a private equity professional’s work in deal evaluation, network with judges who are private equity industry professionals, interact with students from top MBA programs and compete for large cash prizes and media exposure.
“It was an exciting opportunity to compete against students from world leading MBA programs in such a challenging and fast paced competition.” says Matt Ryan
“It provided an opportunity for me knowing the western PE buyout investment method, which is quite different from typical pre-IPO way we conducted at China. Meanwhile, I’m sure this method would become more popular at great China region in the near future. Furthermore, we made friends and expanded our network with other MBA candidates from all the top schools. Some of them are also from Asia, and will come back to contribute for this region. I believe we will continue our contact and even collaborate in the future.” remarks Marie Li
